The Audition Rules
- You must be between 13 and 19 years old (bring ID, as you may be asked for it)
- You must live in Manchester
- Groups must have no more than 5 people
- You can use your own originial material or cover someone else's
- One responsible adult may accompany each act into the Town Hall, but will not be allowed into the audition room
- You will have 2 minutes max to impress the judges
- All auditions on the 6th August must be acapella - no backing tracks or instruments
- You can audition only once
- Previous Urban Superstars finalists cannot audition in the same acts they did before
- The judges' decision is final
- No trouble! - The management reserves the right to throw you out if you misbehave
Hints and Tips
This year's Urban Superstars competition is all about stepping your game up. If you can't walk into a room full of judges and perform, then this competition isn't the place for you.
We're looking for raw talent, confidence, a sense of rythm, a good ear, unique style and presence, something new - you know the score.
Backing tracks aren't allowed at the auditions, but are allowed for the callbacks on the 9th August. If you've written a killer track, then you'd best make sure you make it through the auditions so the judges can hear it!
Callbacks
Selected acts will be asked to perform again in front of the judges on the 9th August - and this time you can use a backing track if you want to.
If you're successful at the Auditions, staff will give you a time and a place to come back on the 9th. Make sure you're on time for your audition, and be prepared to answer questions about your musical ambitions, style and influences.
- As with the auditions, you may bring one responsible adult with you, but no one else.
- Group acts must have no more than 5 people in them
- Acts must not add or lose group members between the Auditions and the Callbacks, unless specifically given permission to do so
